Following negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, the parties have agreed to activate the Istanbul agreements and release 1200 Ukrainian prisoners.
Modern.az reports that this was announced by Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, on his “Telegram” page.
"At the instruction of the President of Ukraine, I recently held consultations on the resumption of the exchange process and the release of our prisoners, mediated by partners in Turkey and the United Arab Emirates", Umerov noted.
As a result of the negotiations, the parties agreed to activate the Istanbul agreements: "This concerns the release of 1200 Ukrainians", Umerov emphasized.
Technical consultations will be held soon. The parties must finalize all procedural and organizational matters.
"We are working tirelessly to ensure that Ukrainians planned to return from captivity can celebrate the New Year and Christmas holidays at home - at the family table, together with their loved ones", Umerov emphasized.
