US Army General Daniel Driscoll caused a scandal at a meeting regarding the “peace plan” he brought to Kyiv.
Modern.az reports that, according to the "Financial Times", Driscoll was late for the event and used rude expressions several times during the meeting.
The meeting took place on November 21 at the Kyiv residence of US Chargé d'Affaires to Ukraine, Julie Davis. In addition to US officials, representatives from Ukraine and the European Union also participated.
According to the information, Driscoll used unethical expressions several times during the discussions: “We need to end this nonsense.”
One of the European officials present at the meeting told the FT that the US general's tone was “disgustingly aggressive” and the discussion quickly reached an impasse.
Leading international media outlets severely criticize the “peace plan” presented by Donald Trump. The media writes that this document jeopardizes the allocation of the credit intended for Ukraine and generally resembles a “1990s mafia-style agreement.”
Driscoll stated at the meeting that Washington does not intend to demonstrate “special flexibility” to meet the expectations of the Ukrainian and European sides.
One European official told the FT: “The atmosphere of the meeting was so heavy that it was unpleasant even to listen to.”
The details of the peace plan are expected to be announced to the public in the coming days.
