Russian President Vladimir Putin made a number of important statements at a press conference held after the Bishkek summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
According to Modern.az, Putin stated that a visit by a high-level US delegation to Moscow next week has been agreed upon and the visit will take place as planned.
The Russian leader denied claims circulating in the West that “Russia is preparing to attack Europe”: “These claims are false, nonsense. We have no intention of attacking Europe and are ready to officially confirm this".
Putin added that Moscow is open to discussing issues of European security and strategic stability with Western countries.
The Russian President also commented on the information circulating regarding the peace plan proposed by the US. According to him, there was no “ready-made draft agreement”. There was simply a package of questions and topics for discussion.
Putin said that the plan presented by the US “needs to be reworked in diplomatic language”, because some provisions “sound ridiculous in the current circumstances”.
He stated that after the talks held in Geneva, the parties agreed to divide the plan's 28 points into four thematic blocks.
Putin also touched upon the situation in the combat zone: “If the Ukrainian army withdraws from the territories it currently occupies, we will cease military operations. Otherwise, Russia will achieve its goals by military means.”
