"Aleko Elisashvili, one of the leaders of the "Lelo – Strong Georgia" party, was detained this morning in Tbilisi.
Modern.az reports that his lawyer, Giorgi Rekhviashvili, confirmed the information.
According to the lawyer, the politician was taken to the main department of the Tbilisi Ministry of Internal Affairs. The reason for the detention is currently unknown.
A day earlier, on November 28, Aleko Elisashvili participated in a protest rally held in Tbilisi. He is also under investigation in connection with the beating of Ali Babayev, the Azerbaijani co-founder of the "Georgian Dream" party, on December 2, 2024.
