Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine under certain conditions.
Modern.az reports this, citing the publication "Welt am Sonntag".
He noted an increased interest from Moscow and Kyiv in reaching a peace agreement. According to the minister, during the war, the parties have seen the limits of their capabilities: "As we understand, Mr. Putin is also ready to agree to a ceasefire and a comprehensive peace agreement under certain conditions."
The minister added that Russia's readiness for peace has been conveyed to Ukraine: "We are also dealing with some aspects of this issue. This war is also very costly for Russia."
Fidan emphasized that every country has the right and obligation to protect its national security, stating that the peace agreement currently under discussion is important not only for ending the war in Ukraine but also for ensuring lasting stability for all of Europe: "Time will tell how lasting the peace can be. However, Russia is also suffering economically and socially and will benefit from an agreement."
