Margarita Simonyan, head of Russia's RT television channel, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in September and underwent emergency surgery followed by chemotherapy, has reappeared on air.
Modern.az reports that M. Simonyan appeared on the "Ç.T.D." program broadcast on NTV. The project replaces the "International Sawmill" program, which was hosted by her husband Tigran Keosayan.
The journalist warned viewers in advance that cancer treatment had significantly affected her appearance: "My hair has fallen out. I filmed the program wearing a wig."
In yesterday's broadcast episode of the program, Simonyan appeared for the first time in a long black wig that closely resembled her own hair.
M. Simonyan admits that chemotherapy has taken a severe toll on her: she spends most of her time at home in bed and completed her first course of treatment in October. According to her, the illness may be related to the severe stress caused by her husband's condition. Margarita spent the last weeks of her husband's life by his side, almost never leaving his hospital room.
The journalist added that she does not intend to stop and will continue to work as long as her health permits.
Tigran Keosayan, Honored Artist of Russia, TV presenter, and film director, died on September 26 at the age of 60 after a nine-month coma.
Although M. Simonyan had great hopes that her husband, who had been in a coma for 9 months, would open his eyes, a miracle did not happen.
Margarita Simonyan is known for her anti-Azerbaijani statements.
