French President Emmanuel Macron will ask Beijing to influence Russia to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine, within the framework of his visit to China, which will begin on December 3.
Modern.az reports that French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot made a statement to BFM TV regarding this.
Macron will be on a visit to China from December 3–6, and this will be his fourth official visit to China as president.
The main purpose of the visit is to renew relations with Beijing, as well as to achieve a de-escalation of the situation in Ukraine by utilizing Chinese leader Xi Jinping's influence over Moscow.
The minister stated that Paris hopes that China, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, can influence Russia for a ceasefire. “We believe that China can guide Russia, and especially President Vladimir Putin, to finally agree to a ceasefire,” Barrot emphasized.
It should be recalled that today Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is on a visit to Paris and has held a meeting with French head of state Emmanuel Macron.
