US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau sharply criticized Europe's NATO allies. He stated that European countries, in the rearmament process, are sidelining American-made weapons and giving preference to their own defense industries.
Modern.az reports that the information was published by "Politico", citing diplomatic sources.
Three NATO diplomats told the publication that Landau voiced these views on December 3 at a meeting of the foreign ministers of Alliance countries.
According to them, the US official demanded from European ministers that the trend of sidelining American defense companies from the market be stopped.
According to another State Department official, Landau emphasized that Europe must turn its defense spending commitments into real capabilities, while a protectionist approach “weakens collective defense”.
