Kyrgyzstan wishes to become a member of the UN Security Council - CALL from Leaders

Today, a briefing of the permanent representatives of the Central Asian states to the UN was held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Modern.az reports that Uluqbek Lapasov, Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN, presented the results of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia held in Tashkent on November 16, 2025. He provided information about the appeal of the region's leaders calling on UN member states to support the candidacy of the Kyrgyz Republic for the UN Security Council in 2027-2028.

Uluqbek Lapasov noted that in their appeal, the heads of state of the Central Asian region stated that the Kyrgyz Republic's candidacy for non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council reflects Central Asia's desire to strengthen its contribution to global peace and security.

In turn, Aida Kasymalieva, Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN, expressed gratitude to the Central Asian states for their support and noted that this unity demonstrates the region's common commitment to peace, dialogue, and constructive multilateralism. She stated that if the Kyrgyz Republic is elected to the UN Security Council, it will be a responsible and principled member of the international organization, striving to strengthen global security and ensure that the voices of all regions, especially developing and small states, are heard.
