For Ukraine, a just peace means only the cessation of the war without any preconditions and the conclusion of hostilities along the current line of contact.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Aleksandr Sırski, in an interview with "Sky News".
Sırski emphasized that any proposal for Ukraine to concede its territory is unacceptable.
“It is impossible for us to give up land. What does it mean to hand over one's land? We are fighting precisely so that we do not lose our territories,” he noted. According to the Commander-in-Chief, the main priority currently is “to protect Ukrainian land, the state, and the population”.
He particularly emphasized that even the idea of fully ceding Ukraine's Donetsk and Luhansk regions to Russia is “completely unacceptable” to him.
Sırski believes that the end of the war can only be achieved through a just peace:
“A just peace means peace without preconditions, without territorial losses. This means that hostilities must be stopped along the current line of contact”.
According to him, an unconditional ceasefire should be declared, followed by negotiations:
“Any other format cannot be considered a just peace and is unacceptable to us,” Sırski stated.
