US Ambassador to Ankara and Special Representative for Syria Tom Barak evaluated regional processes at a conference organized by the Milken Institute in the United Arab Emirates.
Modern.az reports that he stated in his speech that Turkey played an important role in changing the Syrian regime and emphasized that Washington supported the new leadership in this process.
Barak specifically noted that energy cooperation holds strategic importance for the future, stating: “The energy corridor forming between Syria and Turkey, as well as the Turkey–Azerbaijan energy line, will be incredibly beneficial in the upcoming period.”
According to him, the increase in energy security and interdependence in the region will positively impact both economic and political stability.
Braak also touched upon the peace agreement reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia, emphasizing that it creates new opportunities for the region. He stated that expectations for the opening of borders between Turkey and Armenia are high and that this will contribute to stability in the South Caucasus.
