Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan organized a walk with residents in the village of Kirants, located on the border with Azerbaijan in the Tavush region, and made statements about the situation in the region.
According to Modern.az, he stated that after the demarcation of the border line, stability has been established in the area, and no incidents have occurred in the last year.
According to Pashinyan, a three-stage confidence-building process has been formed at the border after the demarcation:
“Some time ago, both Armenian and Azerbaijani border guards emerged from their trenches and were able to see each other openly. Subsequently, in the second stage, binoculars and bulletproof vests were removed. In the third stage, an agreement was reached not to keep cartridges in automatic weapons. I am standing here now and feel no danger,” Pashinyan stated.
The Prime Minister also noted that cargo is already entering Armenia by rail through Azerbaijani territory, and the dispatch of cargo from Armenia is expected in the near future.
“Kirants is a village of peace today. After the demarcation of the border, the village's population has increased by 50 percent,” Pashinyan added.
