Israel is against the creation of a Palestinian state.
Modern.az reports that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has once again stated this.
Speaking at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz after his visit to Berlin, Netanyahu stated that the “two-state” model poses a threat to Israel:
According to Netanyahu, the goal of a Palestinian state is “to destroy the sole Jewish state”.
“They already had a de facto state in Gaza, and that entity was used to attempt to destroy Israel. We see a path towards broader peace with Arab countries, and we also believe that real peace with our Palestinian neighbors is possible. But we will not create a state on our doorstep that seeks to destroy us,” – he said.
Netanyahu reiterated that security authority over the entire territory from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea “will always remain in Israel's hands”.
The Prime Minister stated that the first phase of the ceasefire in Gaza was “almost complete” and noted that a transition to the second phase of US President Donald Trump's peace plan is expected in the coming days.
He gave a negative answer to the question of whether he would leave politics.
