The Thai army has issued an order to evacuate residents living in border areas with Cambodia to safety shelters in four provinces.
Modern.az reports that this step is related to the possibility of new military clashes.
At the same time, the Cambodian Ministry of Defense stated that on December 7, at approximately 14:15 local time, Thai military forces opened fire on Cambodian forces near Prea Vihear.
The Cambodian side stated that it did not return fire and that the firing stopped at 14:32, after contact was made with the Thai side.
Cambodia also informed ASEAN observers and plans to demand an investigation into the incident. The Ministry reiterated that the country, in accordance with international law, is committed to the ceasefire regime and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
