US President's special envoy Stephen Witkoff will hold a secret meeting in New York between representatives of the two countries with the aim of normalizing relations between Israel and Qatar.
Modern.az reports that “Axios” confirmed the information, citing two sources.
According to the information, at the meeting, Israel will be represented by David Barnea, head of the “Mossad” intelligence service, and Qatar by a high-ranking official.
According to “Axios”, the meeting in New York is expected to primarily discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip and issues related to the disarmament of the Palestinian HƏMAS movement.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously stated that during consultations with Doha, he plans to raise issues such as Qatar's support for the international Islamist movement “Muslim Brotherhood” and the hostile editorial policy of “Al Jazeera” television channel against Israel. He had also emphasized that he intended to discuss the topic of Qatar inciting antisemitic sentiments in US universities.
