Units of the Cambodian Armed Forces have again opened fire in the border region with Thailand.
Modern.az reports that TASS reported this, citing a statement from the Second Military District of the Royal Thai Army.
The statement reads: “On December 8, 2025, Cambodian forces opened fire in the Chong An Ma area. We responded with fire in accordance with the rules of engagement.”
The exchange of fire occurred between 05:00 and 06:00 local time (02:00 and 03:00 Baku time).
The report notes that the situation in the region remains tense.
On December 7, Nikondet Phalangkun, spokesperson for the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the country's army had opened fire on the Cambodian border in self-defense. According to him, two Thai soldiers were wounded during the incident.
