A 6.7 magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of Japan's Hokkaido island.

Modern.az reports that the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre released information about this.

The tremors were recorded 144 km northeast of the city of Hachinohe, which has a population of 144,000.

No information about casualties and destruction has been reported.
