The Government of Kazakhstan will announce the final results of the investigation into the AZAL aircraft crash near Aktau after receiving opinions from foreign laboratories.
Modern.az reports that the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan has issued a statement regarding this.
Kanat Bozumbayev, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, previously stated that the investigation into the crash is being conducted in two directions. One is through the Prosecutor General's Office as part of a criminal case, within which cooperation is being carried out with law enforcement agencies of Russia and Azerbaijan. The other direction is a technical investigation conducted by the Ministry of Transport.
According to the Ministry, for the completion of the process, final expert opinions are awaited from the manufacturers and license holders of the aviation and navigation equipment used on the aircraft. According to Bozumbayev, the report may be ready by the end of this year or early next year.
According to ICAO rules, the final report on an air accident investigation must be published within 12 months of the incident.
It should be recalled that on December 25, 2024, an Embraer 190 aircraft belonging to “Azerbaijan Airlines”, flying from Baku to Grozny, crashed near Aktau. According to the airline, there were 62 passengers and 5 crew members on board. As a result of the crash, 29 people survived. The investigation into the causes of the crash is ongoing.
