It has been confirmed that the images circulating on social networks regarding the entry of a military convoy belonging to the Turkish army into Syria are authentic.
According to Modern.az, Ömer Çelik, spokesperson for Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), stated that there is nothing unusual in the images and this movement is part of an existing agreement between the Turkish and Syrian governments.
“Our units that have served in that region for a long time are being replaced by new units. This does not indicate any extraordinary situation. The Turkish Armed Forces continue to maintain their position within the framework of the existing agreement between the two countries. The activities currently being carried out involve sending new units to replace those that have served for a long time, meaning it is a shift change,” Ömer Çelik noted.
It should be noted that, according to reports in the press, the Turkish army has entered Syria from three directions. Turkish soldiers advanced from Afrin, Rasulayn, and the north of Aleppo.
It is noted that the soldiers are advancing particularly towards the Manbij line.
Local media report that the Damascus government has sent additional forces, supported by artillery and UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), to Deir ez-Zor, which is under the control of Kurdish forces.
It is noted that Turkish convoys include a number of logistical elements in addition to armored vehicles.
