Due to unfavorable weather conditions, traffic has stopped at the Upper Lars checkpoint. As a result, thousands of trucks belonging to Armenia continue to remain stuck at the border.
Modern.az reports that Armenian media has disseminated information about this.
Drivers state that the work process has become even more complicated in recent days: queue management is often carried out irregularly, with incomprehensibly long intervals.
According to claims, relations between Armenian drivers and the Georgian side have significantly deteriorated. It is noted that Georgian border guards and customs officers are creating documentation problems.
The closure of the Upper Lars checkpoint has caused serious economic tension: truck drivers are forced to incur additional costs due to stops, days of waiting, and extended transit times. Delays are already being observed in the supply chains of goods.
Experts once again emphasize that Armenia still remains significantly dependent on this sole main land route, and every such incident highlights the need for alternatives.
“However, it is too early to dream about alternative routes, and finding them will not be easy,” Armenian media wrote.
