Armenia is ready for trade and economic cooperation with Azerbaijan, which may include the purchase of oil products.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, Alen Simonyan, to journalists.
Previously, it was reported that Azerbaijan would supply a batch of oil products to Armenia via Georgia. Tbilisi has agreed to a one-time duty-free transit.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament called for not focusing solely on fuel. He is confident that the more alternative energy sources there are, the better it is for Armenia.
According to him, Yerevan should also allow Baku to export its goods to Nakhchivan and Turkey via Armenian territory. Discussions with Azerbaijan on this issue are ongoing, and Simonyan has not ruled out the possibility of such transit in the near future.
The Speaker of Parliament considers the great distrust between the parties natural, given the long-standing conflict. However, he believes that this distrust should be overcome step by step.
It should be recalled that in early November, two consignments of wheat from Russia and Kazakhstan reached Armenia via Azerbaijan. These were the first direct railway shipments from Russia via Azerbaijan or its territory to Georgia, and then to Armenia, in 35 years (wheat from Kazakhstan was also transported in transit through Russia).
