The issue of a possible territorial solution must be determined by the Ukrainian people – through elections or a referendum.
Modern.az reports that President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in a statement to journalists on December 11.
Zelensky stated that the American side proposes the creation of a so-called “free economic” zone or, as the Russians say, a “demilitarization” zone in a part of Donbas. According to this plan, Ukrainian troops will remain in this part of the territory, while Russian troops will remain outside it.
At the same time, Zelensky stated that many questions remain open. More precisely, questions arise regarding who will control this zone, what the monitoring mechanism will be, to what distance Russian troops will withdraw, and how the possible infiltration of Russian forces under the guise of “civilian” forces will be prevented.
