Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accused Western countries of intending to break up the "Caspian Five" to dictate their decisions in the region.
Modern.az reports that in an interview with the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Lavrov drew attention to the West's actions regarding the Caspian "Five".
According to him, the West's approach is an unequivocally clear continuation of colonial, neocolonial policy: "The essence of this was that the West has always wanted to live at the expense of others. We see the same thing in the Caspian region. The West is now preparing its plans, trying to break up the "Caspian Five" and make decisions that will not benefit from the consensus of the Caspian littoral states".
