Real progress was made on numerous issues, but I don't know how the other side will perceive the results we achieved. However, what is important is that we were heard.

Modern.az reports that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is on a visit to Berlin for peace talks, said this at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Fridrix Merts.

Emphasizing that some issues discussed were contrary to Ukraine's position, V. Zelensky stated that he did not want to see them in new versions of the documents: “For me, Ukraine's dignity and territorial issues are very important. This is, of course, a very painful issue. Russia wants a lot. This is a very long dialogue. We understand very well what they want. People may or may not believe this. But we know exactly what they want.”

Stating that Ukraine's position was clearly conveyed to the US side during the meeting, V. Zelensky said: “I am very glad that we heard each other. I think the American side will propose various steps as a mediator to achieve a certain consensus. I hope that the US will continue its mediation role in these matters. This would be promising for us.”

Touching upon the issue of Ukraine's reconstruction, V. Zelensky said: “We must have a dialogue here. We will do everything to find very clear answers regarding security guarantees and who will pay for the financial issue. We need to know where the funding sources will come from and how they should be secured.”

He noted that Russia's frozen assets could also be a possible source of funding, drew attention to the existence of framework agreements for security guarantees, and stated that progress had been made in many areas.
