Ireland is once again discussing NATO membership after its airspace was violated by Russian drones.

Modern.az reports that sources in the Irish government informed "Euractiv" about this.

According to the portal, Russian drones tracked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's plane during his official visit to Dublin in November.

Currently, control over Ireland's airspace and maritime borders is primarily carried out by the United Kingdom through the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force. Dozens of strategically important transatlantic cables pass through the country's territorial waters, and Shannon Airport continues to be used as a key logistics hub by the US and other NATO countries.
