Belarus President Alexander Lukashenka has invited Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro to his country if he leaves his post.

Modern.az reports that the “Reuters” agency disseminated information about this.

A. Lukashenka stated that there are long-standing relations between Belarus and Venezuela, and Maduro can visit Minsk if he wishes.

"Maduro has never been our enemy. If he wants to come to Belarus, the door is open. But to be honest, this has never been discussed. Maduro is not a person to be abandoned or to flee. He is a very strong person," he said.

A. Lukashenka also emphasized that he would be pleased to discuss Venezuela and other issues during talks with US President Donald Trump.

"I am absolutely confident that all issues can be resolved peacefully, thanks to the wishes of the United States of America. I believe that in the near future we will be able to discuss this matter with Donald Trump. I would share many interesting things with him," Lukashenka said.

According to him, a war with Venezuela would be a "second Vietnam." He believes that a conflict with Venezuela would only lead to Venezuelans uniting to support Maduro.

"I do not believe that so many narcotics entering the US are coming from Venezuela. I do not trust Trump on this matter. Maduro is not a drug addict. I know this for sure," Lukashenka added.
