Former Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan will participate in the Armenian parliamentary elections.

Modern.az reports that he announced this during a live broadcast on his Facebook page.

"I want to officially announce that we... will participate with our team, namely the New Force party (established by Marutyan in 2024 - ed.)," he noted.

In his speech, the former mayor stated that the ruling Civil Contract Party would create "its own fake news factory."

It should be noted that Marutyan's relations with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan were allied; he even actively participated in the 2018 Velvet Revolution. However, disagreements gradually arose, and after the Armenian Prime Minister removed Marutyan from the post of Yerevan Mayor in 2021, these disagreements virtually turned into hostility. Marutyan had led the Armenian capital since 2018.
