In recent days, the number of reports regarding Azerbaijanis participating in the Russia-Ukraine war being killed or going missing continues to increase.
Modern.az reports that since December 13, several more Azerbaijanis participating in various combat directions have been killed or gone missing. Of them, 12 fought on the Russian side, and 1 fought as part of the Ukrainian army.
Bayramov Khanlar Bayram oglu, an ethnic Azerbaijani born in 1988, went missing during the battles in Ukraine starting from May 3, 2025. He served in the 2nd Battalion, 6th Company, 4th Platoon of military unit No. 91701 of the Russian Armed Forces. Khanlar Bayramov is originally a Georgian Azerbaijani, born in Darvaz village, Bolnisi district, Republic of Georgia. The serviceman, a citizen of the Russian Federation, went missing in the Novomykhailivka direction of the Luhansk region.
Yasin Jafarov, a resident of Ganja city, born in 1991, was killed while fighting on the Russian side in the battles in Ukraine. According to information, contact with him had been lost since September 22. On December 13, Yasin Jafarov's p was found, and on December 16, his remains were brought to Ganja city and buried. The deceased was a Russian citizen, originally from Kalbajar district. He is survived by one son.
Kerimov Dilsuz Hagverdi oglu, a resident of Goranboy district, is another compatriot killed in the Russia–Ukraine war. He participated in military operations as part of the Russian Ministry of Defense and was posthumously awarded the "Order of Courage" ("Orden Mujstva") by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Mammadov Sanani Aziz oglu, a resident of Gushchu Ayrim village of Gazakh district, went missing in the battles in Ukraine. He joined the battles as part of the Russian Armed Forces.
Musayev Afgan Sahabin oglu, a resident of Sumgayit city, also went missing in the war in Ukraine. He served as part of the Russian Armed Forces. His family has been unable to get information about him for a long time. According to his relatives, the last time he contacted his family, he said he was in the Kamensk-Shakhtinsky direction.
Gafarov Davud Khanagha oglu, an ethnic Azerbaijani, also went missing in the battles in Ukraine. He participated in the battles as part of the Russian Armed Forces. His family has been unable to get news from him since December.
Akhundov Shahriyar Yashar oglu, a resident of Neftchala district, is also among those missing in the war in Ukraine. According to information, he was sent to Ukraine as part of the Russian Armed Forces after being released from prison.
Gasimov Samir Rasim oglu was killed in battles for the freedom and sovereignty of Ukraine in the war. For his distinction in battles, he was awarded the "Medal for the Defense of Ukraine" by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. It is reported that Samir Gasimov will be buried in the city of Mukachevo.
Another Azerbaijani, Mammadov Rafiq Aydin oglu, a resident of Khachmaz district, was killed in the battles in Ukraine. He served in the "Akhmat Spetsnaz" unit operating as part of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
It is also noted that Mirismayilzade Elnur Aydin oglu, a resident of Jalilabad district, lost his life during the battles. He fought as part of the "Akhmat Sever" military formation of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Furthermore, it is reported that Jabbarov Anar Nurmammad oglu, a resident of Khanbulan village, Lankaran district, participated in the battles on the Russian side and has been missing for 4 months. According to information, he last contacted his family four months ago, after which communication with him was lost.
It is also noted that Abbasov Bahlul Zulfugar oglu, a resident of Sumgayit city, went missing in the war in Ukraine as part of the Russian Armed Forces. According to recent information, he participated in the battles in the Chasov Yar direction.
In addition, it is reported that medical service captain Hasanov Gafur Jamaladdin oglu, who was the head of the medical service of the Goranboy brigade during the 44-day Patriotic War and was awarded the "Azerbaijan Flag" order and the "For the Motherland" medal for his heroism, was killed in the war in Ukraine. According to information, after being discharged from the Azerbaijani Army, he went to Russia and participated in the battles in Ukraine as part of the Russian Armed Forces.
