US President Donald Trump has revealed new details regarding the operation carried out in Venezuela.
Modern.az reports that in an interview with "Fox News" television channel, Trump stated that there were no casualties among American servicemen during the strikes carried out by US forces. According to him, the operation was planned at a high level and risks were minimized.
Trump noted that he is currently considering the next phase in Venezuela and decisions regarding the future of the country's leadership. According to the US President, Washington will henceforth be strongly involved in Venezuela's oil industry.
The US President also revealed that he had a phone conversation with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro approximately a week ago. Trump sent a clear message to Maduro and his loyal circles, stating that a “bad future” awaits those loyal to the regime. According to him, the situation will increasingly worsen for forces still loyal to Maduro within Venezuela.
Trump also touched upon the question of the country's political future. He stated that there is currently a vice-president in Venezuela and the question of whether opposition leader María Korina Machado will lead the country will be evaluated separately. The US President emphasized that this decision would not be made hastily.
Clarifying the timing of the operation, Trump said that US forces had to wait four days for more favorable weather conditions. According to him, the weather factor played a decisive role in terms of the safe and successful execution of the operation.
