Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has prepared an evacuation plan from Tehran in case security forces fail to suppress the protests in the country.
Modern.az reports that Britain's “The Times” newspaper wrote about this based on intelligence information.
It was stated that if Iran's security forces evade the protesters or side with them, the 86-year-old Khamenei intends to leave the capital with 20 family members and assistants. As noted by the publication, the plan also includes the evacuation of Iran's Supreme Leader's son and heir, Mojtaba Khamenei.
According to former Israeli intelligence officer Benni Sabti, Khamenei could flee to Moscow, “because there is no other place for him."
The news cited by “The Times” newspaper states that Iran's Supreme Leader has weakened since the 12-day war with Israel in June 2025. Ali Khamenei appeared in public after a long time – amidst the protests that have continued in Iran for the past few days.
According to “The Times” newspaper, Ali Khamenei's evacuation plan is based on the escape of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who was overthrown in December 2024 and received asylum in Russia.
In late September 2025, a Syrian court arrested the former president in absentia and charged him with murder, torture, and unlawful detention.
