Reza Pahlavi, son of Iran's last Shah, appealed to US President Donald Trump, requesting support amidst the ongoing protests in Iran.
According to Modern.az, Reza Pahlavi stated in a declaration shared on social media that he called on people to take to the streets for their freedom, and the mass protests allowed them to gain an advantage against security forces.
According to him, Trump's firm stance against the current regime also prevented the authorities from resorting to violence. Pahlavi noted that time is of decisive importance and that people will take to the streets again in the coming hours.
He asked the US president to be ready to provide assistance to the Iranian people and characterized Trump as “a leader committed to peace and true to his word”.
Previously, Donald Trump had announced that he was following Reza Pahlavi's activities and considered him “a pleasant person”. However, the US president stated that he did not deem it appropriate to hold an official meeting with Pahlavi at the current stage. According to Trump, he is not sure how correct such a step would be under the current circumstances.
The American leader added that currently, the most appropriate course of action is to allow the situation to develop naturally and observe who might emerge.
