Reza Pahlavi, the son of the deposed Shah of Iran, living in the US, called on Iranians on Saturday for more targeted protest actions.
Modern.az reports that the "Reuters" agency reported this.
It was noted that he indicated the capture and control of city centers as the main target.
“Our goal is no longer just to take to the streets. The goal is to prepare to capture city centers and hold them,” said Reza Pahlavi in a video message he published on social networks.
Reza Pahlavi, calling for new protest actions on Saturday and Sunday, added that he is preparing to return to his homeland on a day he considers very soon.
It should be recalled that after Reza Pahlavi's call, protest marches intensified in Iran on January 8. Although numerous videos reflecting mass actions were spread on social networks, Iran's Fars agency claimed that the protests “were limited in nature.” Against the backdrop of intensified protests, internet, mobile, and landline telephone communications were temporarily suspended in the country.
During the riots, private property and urban infrastructure were damaged. Vehicles, including ambulance cars and city buses, were destroyed, and metro stations, mosques, banks, and shops were damaged.
Iranian media reported that there were dead and injured during the riots.
