US citizens to leave Iran urged

The US Department of State has urged American citizens to immediately leave Iran and recommended land routes via Armenia or Turkey.

Modern.az reports that the department issued an urgent statement regarding this. 

The warning notes that possessing a US passport may be grounds for detention by Iranian authorities. Citizens are also advised to prevent internet disruptions and plan alternative communication methods in advance.
