"Iran is ready for talks, but they must be based on mutual respect and adhere to fundamental, elementary principles."
Modern.az reports that Iran's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia, Khalil Shirgholami, stated this at a press conference held on January 14.
"We have never shied away from negotiations," he noted.
The diplomat confirmed that Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi had held talks with US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff over the past two days.
He stated that the talks were conducted through the mediation of one of the Persian Gulf countries.
"Trump cannot say something new every day; he must make a decision. If he wants to conduct real negotiations based on mutual respect, then Iran is ready," Shirgholami emphasized.
