A meeting was held with the participation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding the emergency situation in Ukraine's energy sector.
Modern.az reports that Zelenskyy provided information about this on his “Telegram” page. The head of state stated that special attention will be paid to the situation in Kyiv.
"The consequences of Russian air attacks and deteriorating weather conditions are serious. Repair brigades, energy companies, utility services, and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine continue to work around the clock to restore electricity and heat supply. Many issues require urgent solutions", Zelenskyy added.
The President stated that a permanent operational headquarters will be established in Kyiv to coordinate the situation. An emergency situation will be declared for the entire Ukrainian energy sector. First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has been appointed head of the commission to support people and communities and resolve practical issues under these circumstances.
Zelenskyy noted that, on the other hand, government members will intensify their work with partners to obtain necessary equipment and additional support. The Cabinet of Ministers will ensure the maximum regulation of all processes related to connecting reserve energy equipment to the grid in this situation.
On the other hand, the government has been instructed to review the curfew rules for severe cold weather conditions. The population should have maximum access to support centers, and enterprises should be able to plan their activities based on the state of the electricity grid. The number of shelters in Kyiv should be increased, and existing ones should be checked. Proposals regarding educational formats during the emergency period are expected from the Ministry of Education and Science and local authorities.
“It is important for all levels of state institutions, enterprises, and local governance to work together in a coordinated manner", Zelenskyy added.
