Open PROTEST  against the Khamenei regime with Pahlavi posters in Northern Cyprus

15 January 2026, 09:19

Thousands of Iranians protesting the events in Iran gathered in Nicosia, the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), and openly expressed their opposition to the Khamenei regime.

Modern.az reports that the ongoing political tension and public discontent in Iran this time came to the fore with a mass demonstration in Nicosia, the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Iranian citizens gathered at Nicosia Terminal, chanted slogans, and openly demonstrated their protests against the Iranian leadership.

The main point of note in the demonstration, which was attended by approximately 5,000 people, was that a large portion of the protesters demanded the return of the Pahlavi regime to Iran. Pahlavi posters raised during the demonstration indicated that the protest was not only against the current government but also carried a call for regime change.

The participation of Serdar Denktaş, founding chairman of the TAM Party, in the protest demonstration added political weight to the event. Denktaş's participation in the Nicosia protest revealed that the demonstration carried not only a diaspora protest but also an international and regional political message.

According to experts, the holding of such a large-scale demonstration in Nicosia is not coincidental. A significant portion of wealthy Iranians who fled the Khamenei regime currently live in Northern Cyprus.

In addition, thousands of Iranian students study at TRNC universities.

Iranian investors actively participate in the construction and financial sectors.

Northern Cyprus stands out as a safe space for free expression for Iranian immigrants

These factors have transformed Nicosia into one of the regional centers for the Iranian opposition.

This protest demonstration held in Nicosia is not merely an emotional reaction. The demonstration shows that the Iranian opposition abroad is more organized and courageous

The diaspora has moved beyond the role of a passive observer, and the demand for “radical change, not reform” is strengthening in Iranian society.

Northern Cyprus is becoming a new political platform for Middle Eastern opposition movements.

This demonstration, held with Pahlavi posters, is regarded as a harsh and symbolic message addressed to Tehran.

The slogans chanted at Nicosia Terminal clearly revealed one truth:

The voice of protest of the Iranian people knows no borders. This demonstration is considered a serious political message proving that discontent against the Khamenei regime is rising not only within Iran but throughout the world.
