China has sent a military unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) into Taiwan's airspace for the first time.
Modern.az reports that the Chinese reconnaissance drone remained in the airspace of Pratas Island for approximately 4 minutes and left the area after a warning was issued via international radio frequencies.
The Chinese military confirmed the fact, stating that the aircraft was conducting "legitimate drills."
Also, yesterday, the Chinese military reported that it had tracked the guided-missile destroyer USS John Finn and a US oceanographic research vessel passing through the Taiwan Strait. The US typically sends warships to this shipping channel after China's military exercises.
It should be recalled that Taiwan island has been de facto independent from China since 1949.
