Bulgarian President Rumen Radev has resigned.

Modern.az reports this, citing Bulgaria's BTV channel.

According to the information, he intends to participate in early parliamentary elections.

Parliament Speaker Raya Nazaryan will assume presidential powers and must announce the election of a new president within two months, after which parliamentary elections will be held.

It should be noted that Radev is the most popular politician in Bulgaria and enjoys the highest trust. However, as in most parliamentary republics in the European Union, the powers of the Bulgarian president remain limited.

In recent weeks, there have been active discussions in Bulgaria regarding Radev forming a new political movement and participating in early elections.
