A vice-president post will be created in Kazakhstan.
Modern.az reports, citing local media, that Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated this while speaking at a meeting of the National Kurultai.
"At the final meeting of the National Kurultai, I want to put forward a new, important proposal. The new proposal I am making will perfectly complement the entire political structure that we have methodically built over several years. "We are talking about the creation of the institution of Vice-President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and its inclusion in the Constitution," the head of state said.
According to him, the vice-president will be appointed by the president with the consent of the parliament by a simple majority vote. The head of state determines the scope of the vice-president's powers himself.
The vice-president is reported to have the following responsibilities:
- representing the interests of the Republic of Kazakhstan in international forums and negotiations with foreign delegations;
- representing the president's interests in parliament;
- interacting with local and foreign socio-political, scientific, and cultural organizations;
