The Syrian presidential administration announced that an agreement had been reached with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) regarding the future of Hasakah province.
Modern.az reports that, according to the agreement, the SDF side will hold consultations for four days to present a detailed plan regarding integration. Syrian military forces will not enter the centers of Hasakah and Qamishli cities, but will only take positions in the surrounding areas.
There will be no Syrian army military presence in Kurdish villages, and security will be provided by local forces.
According to the agreement, SDF leader Mazloum Abdi will nominate candidates for Deputy Minister of Defense, Governor of Hasakah, and representation in state services with the parliament. All military and security structures of the SDF will be integrated into the Syrian Ministries of Defense and Interior, while civilian institutions will be merged into state structures. The implementation of Decree No. 13 concerning the linguistic, cultural, and civil rights of Kurds is also envisaged. It has been reported that the implementation of the agreement commenced today.
The Syrian army announced a ceasefire in all operational sectors of the Syrian Arab Army starting from January 20 at 20:00. The army's statement indicates that the decision will be in effect for four days from the date of its adoption, and this step serves the announced agreements between the Syrian state and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), as well as the successful implementation of national efforts. The Ministry of Defense emphasized that the Syrian army will continue its efforts to protect security and stability for all segments of the country's population.
