Erdoğan discussed the region with Trump

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with US President Trump.

Modern.az reports that, according to a statement from the Turkish Presidential Administration's Directorate of Communications, Erdoğan and Trump discussed bilateral relations, as well as regional and global developments, during their phone conversation.

During the meeting, Erdoğan stated that Turkey is closely monitoring developments in Syria and that Syria's unity and territorial integrity are important for Turkey.

The fight against ISIS and the situation of ISIS members in Syrian prisons were also discussed. Erdoğan stated that a developing, terror-free, and peaceful Syria, with all its elements, would contribute to the stability of the region.

The Turkish leader said that efforts for peace in Gaza are continuing and that Ankara will continue to act in coordination with the US on this issue, and thanked Trump for the invitation to the Gaza Peace Committee.

Donald Trump answered journalists' questions as he left the White House to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos.

When asked about his conversation with President Erdoğan, Trump replied, "It was a very good phone call."
