The Russian delegation was forced to agree with the US position on territorial issues during the talks held in Abu Dhabi and withdrew from its initial demands.

Modern.az reports that the British newspaper "The Times" writes about this, citing an unnamed Russian diplomat.

According to the publication, after the first day of trilateral consultations concluded, the Russian side initially hoped to obtain certain commitments regarding territorial concessions. However, ultimately, the position of the US representatives was accepted.

“We initially hoped to obtain some commitment regarding territorial concessions, but in the end, we had to agree with the Americans,” the source stated.

On January 24, the second round of trilateral talks involving representatives of Russia, the US, and Ukraine concluded in Abu Dhabi. TASS sources reported that “buffer zones” and “various control mechanisms” were discussed at the meeting. Ukrainian media, however, writes that the parties made some progress on ceasefire issues but could not reach a compromise on territories.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the talks “constructive,” stating that the parties discussed many topics. According to him, the third round could be held next week.
