Specific security guarantees for Ukraine can pave the way for determining the exact end date of the war, which poses a threat not only to the territory of Ukraine but also to all of Europe.
Modern.az reports that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this during his visit to Lithuania.
According to Zelensky, bilateral security guarantees with the United States are fundamental for Ukraine. The relevant document is already prepared, and Ukraine awaits its partners to be ready to grant it the appropriate status for signing.
“The document is 100 percent ready, and we are awaiting our partners to be ready regarding the date and place of signing. Subsequently, the document will be submitted to the US Congress and the Ukrainian parliament for approval in accordance with our agreements,” Zelensky stated.
The President noted European guarantees as the second element of security guarantees, as well as Ukraine's future membership in the European Union.
Zelensky also emphasized the importance of economic security guarantees and precise deadlines for European integration. According to him, Ukraine will be technically ready to open negotiation clusters with the EU in the first half of 2026, and fully ready in 2027.
According to the President, Ukraine is striving to secure a specific date in the agreement on the end of the war, so that all parties, including the aggressor, are obliged to comply with the agreements and prevent potential obstacles in the future.
