Armenia is trying to create a professional army consisting of 20,000 highly trained personnel.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Armen Khachatryan, Deputy Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee of the Armenian Parliament.
"Conscript service will not be abolished. The focus is simply directed towards increasing the combat readiness of contract troops,” he stated.
