Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will meet with his French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot tomorrow in Ankara. During the meeting, bilateral relations, trade ties, cooperation in the field of security, and key regional issues, as well as the situation around Gaza and Ukraine, will be discussed.
Modern.az reports that the talks aim to maintain the dynamic of bilateral dialogue observed in recent times.
Hakan Fidan is expected to emphasize the importance of strengthening economic and trade relations during the meeting. In particular, the role of the eighth meeting of the Turkey–France Joint Economic and Trade Commission, scheduled to be held in Istanbul on February 17, in developing trade cooperation will be in focus.
The Minister is also expected to address the situation of the Turkish community living in France and highlight the importance of continuing cooperation based on shared responsibility and a resolute common stance in the fight against terrorism.
Cooperation in the defense industry and Turkey's relations with the European Union are also likely to be discussed during the meeting.
Hakan Fidan made his last official visit to France on April 2, 2025. Jean-Noël Barrot, on the other hand, was in Turkey within the framework of the informal meeting of NATO foreign ministers held in Antalya on May 14–15, 2025.
