The search and rescue operation, which lasted approximately 10 days, has concluded at the site of the fire at the “Gul Plaza” shopping center in Karachi, a city located in southern Pakistan.
Modern.az reports that, according to information released by “Geo” TV channel, citing local authorities, the tragedy claimed the lives of 73 people.
The government of Sindh province has decided to provide assistance amounting to 10 million Pakistani rupees (approximately 35,700 US dollars) to the families of the fire victims.
A team of experts will assess the condition of the surviving parts of the building. Forensic experts will also go to the scene to determine the exact cause of the fire.
It should be recalled that on the evening of January 17, a fire broke out on the first floor of the shopping center in a densely populated area of Karachi. The fire could only be fully extinguished on the third day.
