Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed a congratulatory message to the Armed Forces on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the Army's establishment.
Modern.az reports that January 28 is celebrated as Army Day in Armenia.
Pashinyan stated that in recent years they have made significant investments in the Armenian army and implemented a series of reforms.
“The term of compulsory military service has been reduced from 24 months to 18 months. This significantly improves the conditions of compulsory military service,” he emphasized.
According to Pashinyan, the salaries of military personnel have been doubled.
The Prime Minister noted that ordinary soldiers in the army receive a salary of 700,000 drams.
“The salaries of officers, however, exceed 1, 1.5, or even 2 million drams. This is an important social guarantee for military personnel, their families, and society,” Pashinyan stated.
The Prime Minister reminded that, according to the political agreement reached in a quadrilateral format in Prague on October 6, 2022, the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan recognize each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty based on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration:
“We will consistently continue this strategy. We have clearly stated and continue to state that the Armenian army has no other task than to defend its internationally recognized territory of 29,743 square kilometers, and will have no other task than to participate in peacekeeping missions based on international agreements.”
Pashinyan said that peace has been established between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, and there is no more reliable security guarantee than this.
