Vladimir Putin congratulated Ahmad al-Shaaran on the reintegration of the Euphrates region into Syria.
Modern.az reports that Putin stated this during his meeting with him in Moscow.
This visit's meeting is the Syrian leader's second visit to the Kremlin; Shaaran's last visit was in October 2025.
Russian leader's press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that Putin and Al-Shaaran are expected to discuss issues related to bilateral cooperation and exchange views on the situation in the region.
Peskov also stated that he had no doubt that all issues related to the presence of Russian troops in Syria would be resolved during the talks.
