US President Donald Trump has suggested that Russia consider a possible meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Modern.az reports that this was announced by Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov.

According to Ushakov, Vladimir Putin has stated several times in communication with journalists that if Zelenskyy is indeed ready for a meeting, Moscow is ready to receive him, and his security, as well as the necessary conditions for negotiations, will be fully ensured.

The Kremlin representative emphasized that the Russian side does not refuse contacts between Putin and Zelenskyy, but such meetings must be thoroughly prepared in advance and aimed at concrete results. According to him, the main condition is that the negotiations yield real and positive outcomes.

The issue of a possible meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy resurfaced after trilateral talks held by US, Russian, and Ukrainian delegations in Abu Dhabi on January 23–24. These talks were positively assessed by all three countries.

It should be recalled that in September 2025, Vladimir Putin did not rule out the possibility of a meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy and suggested holding the talks in Moscow. The Ukrainian president, in response, stated that this proposal indicated that the Russian side was not yet ready for such a meeting.
