Since December 1 of last year, 17 people have lost their lives in the Czech Republic due to severe frosts and hypothermia.
Modern.az reports that local emergency services and medical institutions have disseminated information about this. Most of the incidents were recorded in regions where temperatures were low at night, with thermometer readings dropping significantly below zero in those areas.
According to experts, the deceased primarily include individuals without a permanent place of residence, as well as elderly people and those under the influence of alcohol. Doctors state that hypothermia often develops unnoticed and can lead to death in a short period.
In this regard, the authorities have intensified the activities of social services, night shelters, and warming centers. Police and volunteers conduct raids to offer assistance to people on the streets in cold weather.
Rescuers urge citizens to observe precautionary measures, to avoid prolonged stays in the frost, and to report individuals in need of urgent assistance.
